The meeting took place at the University of Nicosia, in the presence of the municipal secretary of the Municipality of Strovolos, George Christodoulou, and of the senior vice rector and the vice rectors of the University of Nicosia, Constantinos Phellas, Panayiotis Angelides and Demetris Vrontis.

The main provisions of the memorandum of understanding (MoU), which aims to strengthen the long-term and multifaceted cooperation between the University of Nicosia and the Municipality of Strovolos, include, among others, the following:

• Visits by members of the university community, aimed at promoting teaching, research, and administrative best practices.
• Reinforcing the ‘Knowledge Triangle’.
• Applied research by UNIC students, as well as by the University’s Teaching and Research Faculty, in areas of concern to the Municipality of Strovolos.
• Joint organisation of scientific or research activities (e.g. conferences, symposia, workshops).
• Organising training seminars and implementing training programmes aimed at lifelong learning.
• Engaging in joint promotional, networking, and dissemination activities, as well as jointly organising seminars, conferences, meetings, exhibitions, and workshops.
• Co-organising events and actions related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
• Facilitating the participation of students in joint initiatives.
• Enabling internship opportunities, as well assignments and dissertations by UNIC students on issues of interest to the Municipality of Strovolos.
