Larnaka Tourism Board Wins Five Awards at the Cyprus Tourism Awards

Larnaka Tourism Board (LTB) has won one Platinum and four Gold awards at the prestigious ‘Cyprus Tourism Awards’, held on June 04 of  this year, reaffirming the board’s ongoing commitment to sustainable, innovative, and high-quality tourism development in Larnaka region.

The top distinction given at the awards - the Platinum Award - was presented for actions within the ‘Rural Larnaka Honey Villages’ initiative.

 The project actions include the creation of a sustainable, thematic tourism cluster of nine Larnaka region mountainous communities, aiming to highlight their rich beekeeping and honey making tradition, while strengthening local entrepreneurship, preserving cultural identity and encouraging sustainable rural development in the area. The initiative is implemented through synergies with local communities, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, the Honey Network and its related businesses, and the Troodos Network.

 The Four Gold awards were for the following initiatives:

‘Accessible Tourism in Larnaka Region’

Awarded for the accessible tourism actions being implemented across Larnaka region, with the aim of creating a destination that is welcoming and accessible to all visitors, including people with sensory and mobility disabilities.

‘Larnaka 360° Cultural Walk’

An innovative, virtual cultural route connecting the city’s most important landmarks through an interactive touring experience and audio-visual materials.

‘Larnaka Region Experiential Booking Platform’

A new digital platform for booking experiences and activities in real-time; enhancing and diversifying the tourism offering while contributing to the extension of the tourism season and supporting small, local businesses.

 ‘Larnaka Digital Religious Experiences’

A series of digital religious and cultural experiences highlighting the area’s ecclesiastical and religious heritage through virtual tours, storytelling projects, and virtual reconstructions.

These significant distinctions are recognition of Larnaka Tourism Board’s long-term efforts to develop a modern, sustainable, and authentic tourism destination that strategically invests in innovation, digital technology, accessibility, and the promotion of the region’s cultural and natural heritage.
