Arrivals from the UK were the main source of tourism for May, with a share of 37,4 percent (179.150) of total arrivals, followed by Israel with 9,4 percent (45.249), Poland with 7,7 percent (36.800), Germany with 6,2 percent (29.938), Sweden with 4,8 percent (22.924) and Greece with 3,7 percent (17.591).
Returns of Residents of Cyprus
A total number of 143.296 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in May compared to 144.042 in the corresponding month in 2024, recording a decrease of 0,5 percent. The main countries from which residents of Cyprus returned in May of this year were Greece with a share of 28,3 percent (40.494), the UK with 8,1 percent (11.555) and Italy with 7,1 percent (10.202).
The purpose of travel for the residents of Cyprus this May was mainly for holidays, with a percentage of 66,9 percent, whilst business reasons held a percentage of 29,7 percent, studies 2,3 percent and other reasons 1,1 percent.
