According to Ayia Napa Municipality, Waterproofing Industry began work on December 27, 2017 with a EUR500,000 budget to improve the nine km stretch with upgrades carried out in line with European Union requirements.

By mid-January this year, the old paving had been removed from the entire length and work had begun to put the new paving in place.

After this is complete, lines will be drawn along the path and relevant posts and signs put up to help cyclists use the path as easily and safely as possible. Work should be completed by the end of January or start of February.
