British Couple Become Ayia Napa Ambassadors

On the occasion of their 20th visit to the destination, a British couple were recently made Ayia Napa tourism ambassadors.

Maria Tofini Tsantila, cultural officer, Ayia Napa Municipality, presented Michael and Sophie Kay with a commemorative plaque during an April 20 ceremony at Ayia Napa Town Hall.

Addressing the couple, Tofini Tsantila said, “The love you have shown for our town is exemplary since it showcases [Ayia Napa] overseas as a worthy tourism destination.”

As well as being awarded a commemorative plaque, the Kays were also being recognised as part of the large family of friends of Ayia Napa. The couple’s young children, Poppy and Dexter, also accompanied them to the ceremony.

Ayia Napa Municipality has, since 2014, been recognising regular visitors to the town as tourism ambassadors once they have chosen to holiday in the area at least 20 times. Hundreds of people from around the world have been recognised since.
