The 2017 campaign saw 98,490 cigarette butts collected, significantly contributing to beach cleanliness.

The effort was initiated by Larnaka Tourism Board in cooperation with Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO), Larnaca Municipality and other local authorities in the region.

It aims to improve the quality and level of competitiveness of Larnaca’s beaches and of the region as a tourist destination while also encouraging environmental awareness.

This summer, the eco ashtrays have been placed at the following beaches; Phoinikoudes, Kastella, opposite the hotels on Tassos Mistopoulos Avenue, Yiannoudes in Oroklini, Oroklini, Pervolia Lighthouse, Kareta in Kiti, Pyla’s CTO beach and opposite the hotels in Pyla.
