Universities in Cyprus to Offer Foreign Language Programmes

The council of ministers, at their recent meeting on June 06, approved three draft regulations so that University of Cyprus and Cyprus University of Technology can offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes studying in foreign languages, other than Greek or Turkish.

As regards the Open University of Cyprus, under the relevant legislation promoted by the ministry of education and culture in 2016, it is not required to issue regulations and is already in a position to offer foreign language courses.

The aforementioned draft regulations are the product of a consultation between the ministry of education and culture and the public universities of Cyprus and aim to increase their international competitiveness, attracting foreign students through offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in foreign languages.
