Organised by Let’s do it World!, the event aims to unite local communities worldwide who are battling with the challenges of mismanaged waste, such as litter and illegal dumpsites, which is tarnishing their beaches, rivers, forests, and streets.

The clean-up marathon will start in Fiji, in the South Pacific, as the day breaks, then roll with the sun across the whole planet, finishing up in Hawaii. The event will engage tens of millions of people, with many countries looking to engage up to five percent of their total population.

According to a press release, in Cyprus this international action is represented by the volunteer network Together Cyprus.
