Excavations Revealed Paphos’ Central Role in Prehistory

Excavations undertaken by the Polish Archaeological Mission of the University of Warsaw in the Kato Paphos–Maloutena area have revealed the discovery of an internal court of a Hellenistic and an adjacent Roman period house.

The excavation of luxurious Hellenistic villas such as the House of Aion as well as the discovery of impressive moveable finds, suggested the high level of artistic achievement in the ancient city of Paphos.

The study of the archaeological finds revealed Paphos' extremely important role in the history of Cyprus and its central position in the economic, commercial and military world of the ancient Eastern Mediterranean.
