The new 3.5 MWp Solar Park at Larnaka International Airport was inaugurated on July 19, during a special ceremony held in the presence of the minister of transport, Alexis Vafeadis and the chairman of Hermes Airports’ board of directors, Christophe Petit.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Bee Villages of Mountainous Larnaca, are inviting people to the area, as they are preparing to honour this treasure of nature with the Honey and Beekeeping Festival, which is hosted at the most mountainous village of the bee villages in the region, in picturesque Odou.

Yiannades (Goldfish) Beach has officially become Larnaca’s first ‘plastic free beach’ encouraging an ethos of 'refuse, reduce, reuse and recycle' as part of Larnaca Tourism Board’s (LTB) ongoing sustainability and coastal protection plans. 

Larnaka Tourism Board (LTB) organised its annual familiarisation trip on March 15 for personnel of Larnaca hotels, local travel agencies, tour guides and other employees within the tourism industry. The annual trip aims to acquaint participants with new points of interest added to the Larnaca region tourism product each year. 

A second Larnaca region archaeological site has been virtually reconstructed under a cooperation between Larnaka Tourism Board (LTB) and the Youth Makerspace Larnaka branch of Youth Board of Cyprus (ONEK).

Larnaka Tourism Board (LTB) continues to grow with the addition of Agios Theodoros community, which seeks to further promote and develop its unique, alternative tourism product through its new membership.

Upgrades at Larnaca's organised beaches are ongoing under the ‘Enriching and Greening Larnaka Beaches’ programme, with works carried out throughout the year to ensure that each new tourist season offers a complete beach experience. 

Hermes Airports applies a holistic approach to sustainable development in all aspects of the operation of Larnaca and Paphos Airports. Hermes has recently published its first Sustainability Report for 2021, implementing a structured monitoring system whilst incorporating international practices with operational and environmental responsibility. 

The upgrades and improvement made to the existing beach volley and beach tennis courts at Foinikoudes (Palm Tree) Beach have been completed.

On November 18, the event ‘The Sustainable Development of Coastal Areas’ took place in Larnaca.
