Based on the results of the Passengers Survey carried out by the Statistical Service, Cyprus revenue from tourism reached EUR45,2 million in January of this year compared to EUR45,6 million in the corresponding month of 2023, recording a decrease of 0,9 percent.

Based on the results of the Passengers Survey carried out by the Statistical Service, Cyprus revenue from tourism reached EUR311,0 million in May compared to EUR221,0 million in the corresponding month in 2022, recording an increase of 40,7 percent.

The arrivals of tourists reached 342.736 in April of this year compared to 289.335 in April 2022, recording an increase of 18,5 percent. For the period of January – April 2023, arrivals of tourists totalled 736.629 compared to 534.040 in the corresponding period of 2022, recording an increase of 37,9 percent.

The World Travel & Tourism Council’s (WTTC) 2023 Economic Impact Research (EIR) recently shows the travel and tourism sector is closing in on its 2019 peak, recovering by more than 95 percent.

In 2019, the last year before the COVID-19 pandemic heavily hit the tourism sector, the gross value added directly generated by tourism amounted to an estimated EUR572 billion, or five percent of the total gross value added in the EU economy. 

Cyprus tourist arrivals reached 90.549 this January compared to 43.944 in January 2022, recording an increase of 106,1 percent.
