Since September 01, Ronald McDonald House Charities Cyprus (RMHC Cyprus) officially opened its doors on 28th October Avenue, Agios Dimitrios, Strovlos, and is already hosting the first families. It is a modern and functional guest house - with 12 rooms - which was completed after a huge collective effort of sponsors and volunteers.
"We keep families together"! This is the organisations slogan and its sole mission is to provide a warm and welcoming shelter, embracing families who really need it. A tour of its facilities is enough to understand that it is more than just a hostel.
At the opening ceremony among the distinguished guests were the Commissioner of the Citizens, the Mayor of Strovolos, the Director General of the Ministry of Health, the President and the Members of the Board of Directors of RMHC Cyprus, as well as party presidents and media representatives.
Shortly before the evening ended, the President of RMHC Cyprus, Michalis Michael, characteristically stated, "It is moving, and at the same time gratifying to see a project completed, especially after a huge collective effort! A thank you, then, will not be ever enough. That is why on behalf of the big family of Ronald McDonald House Charities Cyprus, I give you a big promise: that we will always try to do everything humanly possible, so that no child who is hospitalised ever feels that he is deprived of the warm arms of his/her family."
The Ronald McDonald House Charities is a non-profit organisation that operates in more than 65 countries worldwide, with a view to creating and supporting programmes that directly improve the health and wellbeing of children. McDonald’s restaurants have been a lifelong supporter and founding partner.
In 2014 Ronald McDonald House Charities of Cyprus was founded in Cyprus with its headquarters in Nicosia and its main sponsor is McDonald's Cyprus restaurants.
On the first day of its establishment until today, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Cyprus is working hard to keep the family together in difficult times and in cooperation with other branches of RMHC worldwide, helps families to be abroad for free in order to be able to be close to their child, for as long as his / her hospitalisation lasts.
