CTO announced that the 613,000 figure constituted a 23.1 percent increased on the relevant period over 2016 – 2017, and marked the fourth consecutive year of winter tourist arrival increases.
When compared to the 300,000 arrivals over the November 2013 – March 2014 period, the increase rises to 104 percent.
CTO called on stakeholders to remain vigilant, continue coordinated efforts, and work hard to provide visitors with a high quality tourism experience.
Cyprus’ Statistical Service also recently announced that, on the basis of a Passenger Survey, March this year had the highest volume of tourist arrivals ever recorded during the specific month, reaching 192,090 compared to 140,873 year-on-year.
For the period of January – March, tourist arrivals numbered 369,438 compared to 285,693 during the corresponding 2017 period, an increase of 29.3 percent and outnumbering the total ever figure recorded during the year’s first three months.
