In a very emotional atmosphere, the Municipality of Paralimni - Derynia celebrated on August 09 the unveiling of the statues of the heroic martyrs Tasos Isaac and Solomos Solomos, at the monumental site under construction in Nikos Psara Street, in Paralimni.

The movement of travellers to and from Cyprus in 2024 recorded an increase compared to 2023. Total arrivals of travellers reached 6.285.427 recording an increase of 2,9 percent and departures totalled 6.270.760, also recording an increase of 2,7 percent, compared to 2023. Air traffic accounted for 97,7 percent of both arrivals and departures in 2024.

Based on the results of the Cyprus Passengers Survey carried out by the Statistical Service, revenue from tourism reached EUR304,2 million in April of this year, recording an increase of 39,9 percent as compared to the corresponding month of 2024 (EUR217,4 million).

A significant recognition has been added to the accolades of Larnaka International Airport. Larnaka Airport which is managed and operated by Hermes Airports was ‘Highly Commended’ in the ‘Best Airports in Europe’ Awards (five to 10 million passengers category) during the 35th Annual Congress and General Assembly of ACI Europe (Airports Council International Europe), which took place in Athens, on June 19 of this year.

The arrivals of tourists reached 479.160 in May of this year compared to 421.400 in May 2024, recording an increase of 13,7 percent. For the period of January – May of the current year, arrivals of tourists totalled 1.344.486 compared to 1.170.214 in the corresponding period of 2024, recording an increase of 14,9 percent.

The foundation stone for Phase II development works of Larnaca and Paphos airports was laid on June 05, marking the official launch of the project that, upon completion, will take Cyprus’ airports into the future.

Cyprus arrivals of tourists reached 418.730 in April of this year compared to 333.563 in April 2024, recording an increase of 25,5 percent. For the period of January – April, arrivals of tourists totalled 865.326 compared to 748.814 in the corresponding period of 2024, recording an increase of 15,6 percent.

The production crew of popular Irish television travel series 'Téacs Taistil' were  in Larnaca filming an episode for Series 4 that will air on Irish television channel TG4 in April 2026.
